Homemade marzipan recipe

Surprisingly easy and offers endless creative possibilities for decoration. Have fun with this. Its especially wonderful to mould with kids who will see this as edible playdough!


1 1/2 cups of caster sugar

3/4 cups water

3 cups finely ground almonds (almond flour)

1/2 tsp ground mastic


If you have mastic stones, then grind them with a bit of the caster sugar.

Mix the sugar and water together in a pot. Make sure the sugar has dissolved before you start boiling the mixture.

Boil the water and sugar for 10 minutes.

Add almonds and stir over a low heat until the mixture is thick and is pulling off the sides.

Remove from the heat, add mastic and stir until cold.

Dip hands into confectioner's sugar and press into silicone moulds. Or roll into long strands and then slice on the diagonal into wedges.
